Music supervision and beyond…
I’m an independent Music Supervisor with 15+ years specialising in this type of work within Advertising, TV & Film. My expertise goes far beyond the award winning career I’ve had doing this work, and it’s all the areas I have expertise in within music and beyond that infuses the work I do in this field. I excel at interpreting, creating or finding and delivering emotionally nuanced music that hits the sweet spot that’s so hard to nail. Often it’s the subtler synergetic relationship in articulating complex emotions that require a specific skill and touch, such as characterful & quirky but not comedic. Or wistful & reflective without being sad. I’m a storyteller at heart, a musician, a music professional and also someone who gets totally lit up exploring all the things that make us human in how we feel and how we express & create in the world.
My Background:
Music has been in my bones since I was 5 years old when I picked up my first instrument. I play a number of instruments as well as being a classically trained singer starting at a young age and performing with the Canadian Children’s Opera Company for a few years. I’ve studies songwriting at Humber College and went onto study Music Technology at University in London. I’ve worked in nearly every aspect of the music industry including: artist management, tour management support, record label marketing & pr, a stint at the Guildhall school of Music & Drama, starting up a production music library - Synctracks, working in-house at Banijay as a music supervisor for film & TV, 360 music supervision for Felt Music and now a fully independent music professional! Phew… what a ride!
I’m also certified as a sound therapist with the British Academy of Sound Therapy and have expertise in sonic frequencies and their response within the body, brainwave states and emotional resonance. It’s been important for me to give back through music and sound and alongside music therapy I am also an integrity & connection coach to artist, musicians & people in creative industries, providing support and frameworks to move into new ways of being, expressing, collaborating with and moving through life authentically.
I bring all of this into what I do. My approach to life is very holistic, collaborative, creative, inclusive. I approach work and life with curiosity and optimism.
